Air Bearing Systems
Typical air bearing systems are similar to the diagram shown here. This is a four-station air bearing system consisting of four load modules and a remote control unit. The remote control box controls the air flow to each individual air bearing. Once correct air flow has been achieved the result is an air bearing system that floats across the floor in a free and even manner. Remote control units are not required, however, for all air bearing systems. It depends on the load, its weight and your own personal preference. If you have several air bearing systems working within your company, you may consider a remote control unit which can be used to control other air bearing systems as and when necessary. Systems that do not need to have a remote control will have air flow control valves fitted to each load module and the main air supply controlled by an on/off ball control valve manifold.
