Air Bearings

Air bearings are the perfect solution to heavy load moving in today's industrial marketplace.

Single air bearings are individually capable of moving loads of several tons. But air bearings do need to be coupled together to form air bearing systems. Housed in their load modules, air bearings are usually linked into groups of three or more to form air bearing systems.

When air bearings are linked to form air bearing systems their lifting power becomes apparent as their total lifting capacity is coupled together to form a system capable of lifting several hundred tons.

Depending on the weights of your loads, air bearings can be added or subtracted as necessary. The great flexibility of using air bearings to move heavy loads is that you can apply them to different areas of a load. Simply add another air bearing module under the load as necessary. This flexibility ensures that loads of all weights, shapes and sizes can be catered for when using air bearings to move them.

One of the most popular uses of air bearings is attaching them permanently to heavy machinery that needs to be move repeatedly or regularly. Many companies have heavy machines that are moving up and down continuously in a factory-type environment. Permanently attaching air bearings to the base of the machines is the perfect solution. Plug in your compressed air supply, watch it float off the floor, move it, drop it, and carry on working. It really is that simple. In addition, if you have a machine that also needs to be leveled after being moving, consider using lifting jacks with air bearings. These lifting jacks have leveling cranks that can raise or lower the load to suit your needs.
